Why MSSC?

Our Mission

At Mabali Sports Shooting Club (MSSC), we are committed to promoting firearm safety, responsible handling, and the sport of shooting. Our goal is to create awareness, provide education, and offer opportunities for individuals to engage in safe and healthy shooting activities in a controlled environment.

A Legacy of Shooting Sports

Shooting has been an Olympic sport since the first modern games in 1896. In advanced countries, shooting is organized as both a sport and an educational activity focused on gun safety and societal responsibility. Gun clubs and shooting ranges worldwide provide licensed firearm holders with legal venues to practice shooting under trained supervision and strict safety protocols. These facilities foster responsible firearm usage and encourage participation in constructive and recreational activities.

The Need in Pakistan

In Pakistan, the promotion of shooting as a sport and firearm safety education has been largely neglected. Despite a significant public inclination towards firearm ownership—both legal and illegal—there are limited facilities or opportunities to engage in safe shooting activities. Statistics reveal that approximately 18,000,000 firearms are held by civilians in Pakistan, with an ownership rate of 11.62 weapons per 100 individuals. Pakistan ranks 62nd out of 178 countries in civilian firearm ownership.

The lack of proper venues and education leads to unsafe practices, including the dangerous use of firearms during celebrations, resulting in loss of lives and property damage. The absence of awareness and training mechanisms exacerbates these risks, highlighting the urgent need for a comprehensive solution.

Our Vision

We believe that educating our youth on gun safety and responsible firearm handling can bring about positive societal change. By providing structured opportunities for safe shooting practices and firearm education, we aim to mitigate risks and encourage a culture of responsibility. Currently, there are very few gun clubs or shooting ranges in Pakistan, and handgun safety education is almost nonexistent. To address this gap, MSSC is taking a proactive approach to establishing a sustainable framework for firearm safety and promoting shooting as a sport.

Pilot Project in KPK

As a first step, we have initiated a pilot project in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), with District Haripur serving as the model area. This project aims to:

  • Educate the public on gun safety and responsible handling of firearms.
  • Provide safe and legal venues for shooting activities under trained supervision.
  • Promote shooting as a healthy and constructive sport.

This initiative will serve as a blueprint for expanding firearm safety education and shooting sports across the province and eventually to other parts of Pakistan. Through this project, we strive to transform Haripur into a gun safety-educated district in the initial phase, paving the way for a safer and more responsible society.
